কোরআনে বলা হচ্ছে, নারীকে সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে পুরুষের জন্য, পুরুষের বিনোদন এবং অবসন্নতা কাটাবার জন্য। এটি নারীর জন্য চরমভাবে অমর্যাদাকর। নারীর সৃষ্টি যদি পুরুষের মনোরঞ্জনের জন্য হয়ে থাকে, তা অবশ্যই নারীকে একটি স্বাধীন এবং স্বাভাবিক সত্ত্বা হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করে না, বরঞ্চ পুরুষের জন্য একটি উপভোগ্য বস্তু হিসেবে নির্দেশ করে, একটি যৌনযন্ত্র হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করে (( সূরা ৭, আয়াত ১৮৯ )) -

তিনিই তোমাদেরকে এক ব্যক্তি হতে সৃষ্টি করেছেন আর তাত্থেকে তার জোড়া সৃষ্টি করেছেন যাতে সে তার কাছে শান্তি পায়। যখন সে স্ত্রীর সাথে সঙ্গত হয় তখন সে লঘু গর্ভধারণ করে আর তা নিয়ে চলাফেরা করে। গর্ভ যখন ভারী হয়ে যায় তখন উভয়ে তাদের প্রতিপালক আল্লাহকে ডেকে বলে, ‘যদি তুমি আমাদেরকে (গঠন ও স্বভাবে) ভাল সন্তান দান কর তাহলে আমরা কৃতজ্ঞ থাকব।’

তিনিই আল্লাহ যিনি তোমাদেরকে এক ব্যক্তি হতে সৃষ্টি করেছেন এবং সেই ব্যক্তি হতেই তার সঙ্গিনী সৃষ্টি করেছেন, যেন সে তার নিকট থেকে প্রশান্তি লাভ করতে পারে। অতঃপর যখন সে তার সাথে মিলনে প্রবৃত্ত হয় তখন সেই মহিলাটি এক গোপন ও লঘু গর্ভ ধারণ করে, আর ওটা নিয়ে চলাফেরা করতে থাকে। যখন তার গর্ভ গুরুভার হয় তখন তারা উভয়েই তাদের রবের কাছে প্রার্থনা করেঃ আপনি যদি আমাদেরকে সৎ সন্তান দান করেন তাহলে আমরা আপনার কৃতজ্ঞ বান্দা হব।

কোরআনে পরিষ্কারভাবে বলা হয়েছে, নারী হচ্ছে শস্য ক্ষেত্র স্বরূপ, তাকে যেভাবে ইচ্ছা ব্যবহার করা যাবে (( কোরআন, সূরা বাকারা, আয়াত ২২৩ ))। এরকম সরাসরি নারীকে সেক্সুয়াল অবজেক্টিফিকেশন সামাজিকভাবে নারীকে একটি ভোগ্যপণ্য এবং যৌনযন্ত্র হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করার জন্য খুবই কার্যকর। নারীর অবজেক্টিফিকেশন বলতে বোঝায় একজন ব্যক্তিকে, বিশেষ করে একজন নারীকে, একটি যৌন আবেদনের বস্তু বা যৌনযন্ত্র হিসেবে চিহ্নিত বা ব্যবহার করার পুরুষতান্ত্রিক সামাজিক অনুশীলন। এটি বহু শতাব্দী ধরে সমাজে একটি স্থায়ী সমস্যা, যা বিভিন্ন ধর্ম, প্রথা এবং সাংস্কৃতিক নিয়ম দ্বারা বদ্ধমূল হয় যা সমাজে একজন নারীর জন্য অত্যন্ত অমর্যাদাকর এবং অসম্মানজনক। এই ধরণের বক্তব্য এবং সামাজিক দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি নারীর ওপর যৌন হয়রানি, নির্যাতন এবং সহিংসতার বৃদ্ধি করে।

নারীর সেক্সুয়াল অবজেক্টিফিকেশন সমাজে লিঙ্গ বৈষম্যকেও স্থায়ী করে, কারণ এটি এই ধারণাটিকে শক্তিশালী করে যে নারীরা পুরুষদের থেকে নিকৃষ্ট এবং শুধুমাত্র তাদের যৌনকর্ম ও বাচ্চা উৎপাদনের জন্য মূল্যবান। অধিকন্তু, নারীদের সেক্সুয়াল অবজেক্টিফিকেশন লিঙ্গ স্টিরিওটাইপগুলিকেও শক্তিশালী করে, যেমন এই ধারণার জন্ম দেয় যে, নারী হচ্ছে পুরুষের বশ্যতা স্বীকার করবে এবং এটিই তাদের ভবিতব্য। এবং এই ধারণাটিকে শক্তিশালী করে যে মহিলারা শুধুমাত্র কিছু বিশেষ কাজের জন্য উপযুক্ত, যা তাদের শিক্ষাদীক্ষা, পেশা নির্বাচন, স্বাধীন জীবনযাপন ইত্যাদির সুযোগ সীমিত করতে পারে। নারীর অবজেক্টিফিকেশন একটি ক্ষতিকর সামাজিক সমস্যা যা ব্যক্তি ও সমাজ উভয়ের জন্যই সুদূরপ্রসারী পরিণতি বহন করে। এই সমস্যাটি মোকাবেলা করার জন্য, সর্বক্ষেত্রে নারীর জন্য অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক এবং সম্মানজনক সমাজ তৈরি করতে হবে, যেখানে নারীরা কেবল তাদের শরীর নয়, মানুষ হিসেবেই সম্মান ও আত্মমর্যাদা নিয়ে জীবন যাপন করতে পারবে (( সূরা বাকারা, আয়াত ২২৩ ))

তোমাদের স্ত্রীগণ তোমাদের শস্যক্ষেত্র। সুতরাং তোমরা তোমাদের শস্যক্ষেত্রে যে প্রকারে ইচ্ছে গমন কর এবং নিজেদের জন্য ভবিষ্যতের বন্দোবস্ত কর এবং আল্লাহকে ভয় কর এবং জেনে রেখ যে, তোমাদেরকে তাঁর কাছে হাজির হতে হবে। আর বিশ্বাসীদেরকে সুসংবাদ শুনিয়ে দাও।

৩৫১২। মুহাম্মাদ ইবনু আবদুল্লাহ ইবন নুমায়র আল-হামদানী (রহঃ) ... আবদুল্লাহ ইবনু আমর (রাঃ) সূত্রে বর্ণিত যে, রাসুলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেনঃ দুনিয়া উপভোগের উপকরণ (ভোগ্যপণ্য) এবং দুনিয়ার উত্তম উপভোগ্য উপকরণ পুণ্যবতী নারী।
হাদিসের মানঃ সহিহ (Sahih)

অনেক মুসলিম প্রশ্ন তুলতে পারেন যে, বনলতা সেন কবিতাতেও তো জীবনানন্দ দাশ লিখেছেন, আমারে দু-দণ্ড শান্তি দিয়েছিলো নাটোরের বনলতা সেন। এটিও কী নারীকে অবজেক্টিফাই করা? কিন্তু জীবনানন্দ দাশের কবিতা কিংবা অন্য কোন কবিতা আমাদের জন্য কোন আইন কিংবা জনগণের নৈতিকতার উৎস হিসেবে বিবেচ্য নয়। জীবনানন্দ দাশও সামগ্রিকভাবে নারীদের শান্তি দেয়ার বস্তু হিসেবে কোথাও উল্লেখ করেননি। বিশেষ একজন নারী সম্পর্কে তার মনের ভাব প্রকাশ আর সমস্ত নারীকে উপভোগের বস্তু বলা সম্পূর্ণ ভিন্ন বিষয়। সেইসাথে, কোরআন হাদিসের বাণী মুসলিমদের নীতি নৈতিকতার উৎস হিসেবে বিবেচিত। এরকম গ্রন্থ তো কোন ব্যক্তির লিখিত কবিতার বইয়ের সাথে তুলনীয় নয়। আসুন ড. মুহাম্মদ আসাদুল্লাহ আল গালিবের লেখা নবীদের কাহিনী বই থেকে এই বিষয়ে একটি আলোচনা পড়ি, যেখানে বলা হচ্ছে যে, ফেরেশতাগণ সিজদা করেছিল আদমকে, হাওয়াকে নয়। কারণ হাওয়া কোন পৃথক স্বাধীন সৃষ্টি ছিল না। যার অর্থ হচ্ছে, নারী কোন স্বাধীন সত্ত্বাই নয়, বরঞ্চ আসল সৃষ্টি হচ্ছে আদম (( নবীদের কাহিনী-১, ড মুহাম্মদ আসাদুল্লাহ আল গালিব, পৃষ্ঠা ১৯ )) -

এবারে আসুন তাফসীরে ইবনে কাসীর থেকে পড়ি, যেখানে আসলে হাওয়ার মুখ থেকে বর্ণনা করানো হচ্ছে যে, নারীর সৃষ্টিই হয়েছে পুরুষের যৌন তৃপ্তির জন্য (( তাফসীরে ইবনে কাসীর, ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশন, প্রথম খণ্ড, পৃষ্ঠা ৩৯৯ )) -

The Quran says that woman was created for man, for man's entertainment and to relieve his fatigue. This is extremely degrading for woman. If woman was created for man's pleasure, then she is certainly not marked as an independent and natural being; rather, she is designated as an object of enjoyment for man, marked as a sexual instrument (( Surah 7, Verse 189 )) -

It is He who created you from a single person, and from him created his mate so that he may find peace with her. When he lies with his wife, she conceives a light pregnancy and moves about with it. When the pregnancy becomes heavy, they both call upon Allah, their Lord, saying, 'If You grant us a righteous child, we will surely be grateful.'

Then when he engages in union with her, the woman conceives a hidden and light pregnancy, and keeps moving about with it. When her pregnancy becomes heavy, they both pray to their Lord: 'If You grant us a righteous child, we will be Your grateful servants.'

The Quran has clearly said that woman is like a tillage field; she can be used however one wishes (( Quran, Surah al-Baqarah, Verse 223 )). Such direct sexual objectification of woman is very effective in socially marking woman as a commodity and a sexual instrument. The objectification of woman means the patriarchal social practice of identifying or using a person, especially a woman, as an object of sexual appeal or a sexual instrument. For many centuries it has been a persistent problem in society, entrenched by various religions, customs, and cultural norms, which is extremely degrading and disrespectful for a woman in society. Such statements and social attitudes increase sexual harassment, torture, and violence against women.

The sexual objectification of women also perpetuates gender discrimination in society, because it strengthens the idea that women are inferior to men and valuable only for their sexual services and producing children. Moreover, the sexual objectification of women also strengthens gender stereotypes, for instance giving rise to the idea that woman will submit to man and that this is their destiny. And it strengthens the idea that women are suitable only for some particular work, which can limit their opportunities for education, career choice, independent living, etc. The objectification of woman is a harmful social problem that carries far-reaching consequences for both the individual and society. To tackle this problem, an inclusive and respectful society must be created for women in all spheres, where women can live with respect and self-esteem not merely as their bodies, but as human beings (( Surah al-Baqarah, Verse 223 ))

Your wives are your tillage field. So go to your tillage field however you wish and make provision for your future, and fear Allah, and know that you will be brought before Him. And give glad tidings to the believers.

Many Muslims may raise the question that in the poem Banalata Sen too, Jibanananda Das wrote: 'Banalata Sen of Natore gave me peace for two moments.' Is this also objectifying women? But the poems of Jibanananda Das or any other poem are not considered for us a law or the source of people's morality. Jibanananda Das also nowhere mentioned women collectively as objects that give peace. Expressing his feelings about one particular woman and calling all women objects of enjoyment are completely different matters. At the same time, the words of the Quran and hadith are considered the source of Muslims' principles and morality. Such a book is not comparable to a poetry book written by any person. Let us read a discussion on this subject from the book Stories of the Prophets written by Dr. Muhammad Asadullah Al-Ghalib, where it is said that the angels prostrated to Adam, not to Hawwa, because Hawwa was not a separate independent creation. Which means, woman is not an independent being at all; rather, the real creation is Adam (( Stories of the Prophets-1, Dr. Muhammad Asadullah Al-Ghalib, Page 19 )) -

Now let us read from Tafsir Ibn Kathir, where it is actually narrated from Hawwa's own mouth that woman was created precisely for the sexual gratification of man (( Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Islamic Foundation, Volume 1, Page 399 )) -
